TOPIC: Monitoring Update (Summerland Point)

Monitoring Update (Summerland Point) 9 years, 10 months ago #1

Yesterday I visited a site in Summerland Point where I had previously (2 months ago) removed 1 large plant on the side of the road.

Site looks so much better without this large Bitou plant not to mention that this plant was right on the edge of a small embankment (50cm) which led straight into a drainage easement. The perfect way to spread seeds.

There are 4 seedlings emerging and currently they are about 1cm in height.

Instead of pulling these out at this point I am going to use this to research the time taken for the plant to grow and reach maturity (produce flowers/seed). I will at no point allow any plant I am monitoring to remain once it has its first flower present unless I remove each and every flower.

I wish to see speed of growth and how dense the plant will become before it reaches maturity.

Stay tuned for updates.
